Phil Hart

Philip Hart is an award-winning educator, author and filmmaker. He is a leading authority on early African American aviators and has books, films, podcasts and museum exhibitions on this topic. His mother’s uncle James Herman Banning was the first African American pilot to fly across America in 1932. In June 2023 the City of Ames, Iowa renamed its airport the James Herman Banning Ames Municipal Airport. Dr. Hart’s most recent projects include a scripted podcast series Invisible Eagles: Bessie Coleman presented by AARP and a Long Beach Airport Centennial report titled Long Beach Airport and Southern California: A New Brief Aviation and Aeronautics History 1900s-1980s ( with Alison Rose Jefferson). Dr. Hart’s brother Christopher A. Hart served as NTSB Chairman during the Obama administration. The Hart brothers grew up in Denver and attended Denver East High School. Philip Hart resides in Los Angeles with his family.

Tanya Hart

Media Maven and Producer/Host, Tanya Hart’s storied career spans several decades. She has garnered 8 Emmy nominations (winning four) and was most recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Gold Circle Award from the National Television Academy. Tanya was also

recently inducted into the NABJ’s Journalism Hall of Fame. With an Oscar nomination, Peabody Award, and several industry accolades for her Documentaries and Docu-Series.

 

Upon moving to Los Angeles in the early 90’s, Hart was responsible for building BET’S West Coast operation. Soon after Hart created her own company Tanya Hart Communications Inc. THC Inc.

 

Her company recently produced an eight-episode scripted podcast Invisible Eagles: Bessie Coleman, starring Oscar nominee, Quevnzhane Wallis. Hart also has a daily podcast on American Urban Radio Networks. She has been recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus of MSU. She earned a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Tanya is married and resides in Los Angeles with her family.
